Frequently Asked Questions
The questions people ask before they get in touch, answered honestly, in plain English.
Financial advice isn't just for people with large sums. It's about making the most of whatever you've got and ensuring you're properly protected. Most people benefit from having someone take a clear, objective look at their situation. That might mean checking you have the right protection in place, making sure your pension is on track, or simply understanding what your options are. The earlier you start thinking about these things, the better placed you are.
The cost depends on the type of advice and the complexity of your situation. We explain everything upfront, with no surprises and no hidden costs. The initial conversation is always free. Before any work begins, you will receive a clear explanation of what the advice will involve and how the fees are structured. You will never be presented with a bill you weren't expecting.
This is the most common thing people say when they first get in touch, and it is completely understandable. But it is also rarely true. The people who think they don't have enough are often the ones who would benefit most from advice: gaps in protection, pensions that aren't working as hard as they could, or simply a lack of clarity about where they stand. There is no minimum. If you have a financial situation, we can help you understand it.
Jack starts by sharing a little of his own story to put you at ease. He knows it can feel daunting walking into a financial conversation. Then we ask questions and listen. There are no products and no solutions in the first meeting; it is purely about understanding your situation, your concerns, and what you are hoping to achieve. You are in control of the pace at every point.
It depends on the complexity of what you need. Simple protection arrangements can often be put in place within a matter of days. More comprehensive financial planning, such as pension consolidation, investment strategies, and inheritance planning, might take a couple of weeks to research, prepare, and present properly. Everything is done at your pace, and nothing is rushed.
We are based near Southampton and work with clients nationwide. For clients within roughly an hour of Southampton, we are happy to meet face-to-face. For everyone else, or for anyone who simply prefers it, virtual meetings work just as well and are just as personal. Where you are is not a barrier.
Eiles Finance operates through Cooper and Parks, which is part of the Openwork Partnership, one of the UK's largest and longest-established financial advice and investment companies. We provide advice based on a carefully selected range of products from the Openwork Group's panel of providers. This gives you access to trusted, well-researched options across protection, pensions, and investments, with the backing and regulatory oversight of a major financial services network.
No. Mortgage advice is not something we offer directly. If you need a mortgage broker, we are happy to refer you to someone we trust. Our focus is on protection, pensions, investments, and tax planning, and we do those things properly rather than trying to cover everything.
We stay in touch. Via email, WhatsApp, or phone, however you prefer to communicate. You will have annual reviews to make sure everything remains on track, and we will check in when your circumstances change. This is a relationship, not a transaction. Many of our clients have been with us for years, and some have introduced their children and parents to us too.
Yes. We are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority through Openwork Limited (FCA reference 408285). As a client, you are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If the firm that sold you a financial product goes out of business and cannot pay a valid claim against it, the FSCS may be able to compensate you. For investments, the FSCS covers up to 85,000 pounds per eligible person, per firm. For insurance advising and arranging, the FSCS covers 90% of the claim with no upper limit. These protections exist to give you confidence that your interests are safeguarded.
We take complaints seriously and want to resolve any concerns as quickly as possible. In the first instance, please contact us directly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can write to the Openwork complaints team. If the matter is still not resolved to your satisfaction, you have the right to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service, Exchange Tower, London E14 9SR, or call 0800 023 4567. The Financial Ombudsman Service is a free, independent service for settling disputes between consumers and financial services businesses.
